The basic course will loosely follow Dr. John Conkling’s book, second edition which was co-authored by one of the lecturers, Mr. Chris Mocella.  A copy of the book will be provided.  An outline of the information to be presented will include:  - A review of basic chemical and pyrotechnic principles - Components of energetic mixtures - Ignition, propagation, and sensitivity of pyrotechnic compositions - Systems and compositions for heat, light, color, and smoke production,  propulsion, and explosive effects There will be daily laboratory demonstrations to accompany/supplement classroom presentations.
